The Big 3 Reasons Why Outlast Has Started Functional Fitness Classes
1. Fitness is Our Passion: Yes we love physical therapy too, but we, like many PTs, became interested in the field of physical therapy because we crave activity and love to move our bodies in fun ways. We know the benefits of feeling strong and resilient within our own bodies and minds and how that positively impacts all aspects of life. We are now able to pass our knowledge of fitness onto others and help ignite a spark for them to take control of their health and have some fun doing it! Finally we get to combine the worlds of rehabilitation and fitness into a super awesome, wicked fun job that I look forward to coming to every day.
2. We get to Address the Missing Piece in Rehabilitation: We get to help our people not only get rehabilitated from injury and ailments but we get to work on that piece that is so often the missing part of the rehabilitation process: Getting humans stronger and fitter in order to stay injury-free. In previous physical therapy jobs, I have worked with patients and rehabilitated them back to “baseline” and then we had to discharge them from PT because their insurance denied more visits. Inevitably, I would be seeing them again, usually within that same year, because when they returned to the “real world” a re-injury or new injury had popped up. Now we are able to streamline the patient experience so that when they are done being a “patient” we can coach them as “clients” on how to move better and feel better. And remember, we know why you became a “patient” in the first place so we can easily suggest modifications based on your specific needs.
However, you do not need to be a “patient” to become a fitness “client”. If you are interested in our fitness classes but are new to Outlast Health and Performance, no worries. We will set you up with a physical therapist who will lead you through an OnBoarding Process to evaluate your baseline and movement capabilities and will be able to suggest a plan of action. Maybe you are ready to dive right into fitness classes, or maybe you need a few sessions of physical therapy or massage therapy to help get you out of pain before starting fitness classes. Whatever you need, that is what we are here to provide.
3. Group Fitness with Personalized Coaching is Just Better: “If I jumped off a bridge, would you too?” The answer, probably yes, if I trusted you and knew you had my best interests at heart. Humans are hardwired to do life in packs. This is true when it comes to fitness as well. Completing a task with a group of your peers, whether you know them or not, makes you feel connected and part of a community. That is what we are trying to build at Outlast Health and Performance: A kick-ass community of people who care about their health and fitness. Each day has a unique workout (WOD) that each class will perform as a group led by an expert coach. Because we are capping our classes at 10 people, you will receive personalized coaching in every class. Our goal is that you leave feeling energized and ready to tackle whatever the day has in store for you and maybe you will make some new friends along the way.
